...if you scratch theirs
It's true. And when I say Facebook, I mean every person, page, company or event on this social media network. I see plea's for 'likes' on a daily basis. Stuff like "LIKE THIS IMAGE SO I CAN WIN STUFF", OR "Hmmmm, 93 likes, please like my page so I can have 100 likes by the end of the day". Are you a compulsive 'liker', or are you selective about the pages you like or share? Do you share your fan/business/artist pages hoping to get more followers or do you let people decide for themselves whether they want to get your updates? Is it a numbers game for you or do you value genuine followers who interact with your page? I believe that if my 'like' on your model search/comp image is valuable to you then you will return the favor by 'liking'/sharing something for me in return.
In the artist community is almost sacrilege if you don't share your fellow artists/designers/photographers pages. Because we want one another to succeed. So I share friends/fellow artists pages as much as I can, even on my own pages. I've also started a new venture, where you can advertise your page for free on Facebook, no strings attached. What I think most people don't understand about the concept around the page, is that if the page doesn't grow (ie likes and shares) then their pages won't reach a larger audience. I have also started up a blog to give free advice on promoting your Facebook Fan page.
Here's the Facebook Page:

[link]I guess what I'm getting at is that Facebook has become one big numbers game, a popularity contest. Instead of a very valuable marketing tool that can offer you loyal supporters and followers. If someone likes and shares your stuff, then it's only fair that you do the same.
Here are some of the pages I manage on Facebook:
(leaving out all the big corporate pages I manage for privacy reasons)

[link]I try my best to not spam people, and to post stuff worth re-sharing. Getting people to interact is incredibly difficult. If you would like a little bit of extra exposure on your page, feel free to post a link on the wall of the Free Advertising Page. It would be cool if you could like it or share the page in return.
Other than that. Stuff's ok. I sell stickers now. And paintings. And I work hard. So yeah
BUT I do detest certain aspects of facebook, like the popularity contest it causes as well as the stalkerdom that exist in it. Doesn't all that also tire you sometimes?
I think that's also why I'm trying to boost public fan pages more, in return the owner of the page has more personal privacy. If that makes sense?
Personally though, I prefer it when people like my work for the work itself rather than just because I told them to click a button that said "like". But that's what I have DeviantART for, I guess
